SUPPORT FOR URBAN FARMERS

KCCUA offers technical assistance in all areas of farm development, crop production and marketing.  We meet with urban market gardeners and discuss their individual needs and provide information or direct them to other resources.  Specifically we can assist with questions regarding:

Site Development

this includes site selection, irrigation and other farm infrastructure

Crop Production

crop selection, production planning, production techniques, high tunnels, selection of appropriate equipment

Organic Certification

we will assist growers interested in getting certified

Input Sourcing

we will suggest suppliers and offer bulk purchasing for some inputs

Greenhouse Sharing

for a modest fee urban farmers can grow their own transplants in our greenhouse

Marketing

tips on developing a CSA, finding a farmers market, developing a successful market stand and more

Business Management

we can help with financial planning, bookkeeping and tax issues

We love working with farmers from all backgrounds.  In 2007 we will hold a special series of workshops for immigrant farmers.  If you are or know an immigrant farmer, please refer her or him to us!
