At some point during the summer, the Farmers will announce a “Farmers Holiday” and we will skip one week to give ourselves a break! You can also “bump” up to two weeks to the fall to accommodate vacations and other commitments. Cost: A Full Share costs $390; a Two-Thirds Share costs $260. For an extra $100 we will deliver to your home or office on Wednesday afternoon, or, you can pick your vegetables up at the farm between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesdays. Pick-Up Location: Full Circle Farm, 4223 Gibbs Road, Kansas City, Kansas. This is a 15 minute drive from Westport. Depending on where you are coming from, you take 35 south to 635 north, drive two exits to Shawnee Drive and turn east. You then drive to the first stop sign which is 42nd Street and turn north. Again, drive to the first stop sign which is Gibbs Road. Turn west, drive maybe 100 feet, and turn left into 4223 Gibbs Road. Frequently Asked Questions What if it is a terrible year weather wise? Will we still get our vegetables? Part of the joy of supporting local agriculture is that we are subject to the whims of Kansas weather. We do our best to guarantee a steady and generous supply of all types of vegetables, but one of the lessons agriculture teaches us is just how little control we have in the world! If we come up short on individual crops, we will try to be creative, but our intent is to give you vegetables grown seasonally on our farm. This also means that when there is an abundance of a particular crop, you can expect larger quantities. (How many ways can you cook patty pan squashes??) What kind of a mix of vegetables will we get? Each week we try to put together a bag that will make sense in the kitchen. Generally, there are 4-5 different vegetables and 1 bunch of herbs. We also try to provide a good mix of familiar and lesser-known vegetables, so you may get one vegetable like fennel thrown in with tomatoes, potatoes, beans, onions and a bunch of tarragon. Please look at our web site for information on what vegetables come on when. To get a better idea of what you will get on a weekly basis we have compiled information gathered from our records of last year's CSA. Click here to view a “typical” weekly share: What if we don’t like all the produce we get? Part of what we hope to encourage is an adventurous approach to eating vegetables. We have found, over years of growing and eating, that our tastes in vegetables have changed. While tomatoes will probably always be our favorite, bitter greens and crunchy fennel and different herbs add depth and breadth to our meals. We’d like to help you in the same kind of experimentation and learning. You will also, of course, get an abundance of all the lovely tried-and-true summer veggies! You can also visit our website for suggestions, and, if you don’t find something there, please email us. Aagh! What is this leafy purple thing? It sometimes happens that our customers don’t know what a particular vegetable or herb is, much less how to use it. We recommend a two-step approach to this. First, go to your weekly email for the listing of what will be in your bag, and, by the process of elimination, figure out what the vegetable is. If this doesn’t work, email or call us! For the second step, go to the web site and look up “Cooking” for links to web sites that have lots of good recipes and cooking suggestions. Alternatively, our CSA members include some of the best chefs in town; send out a group email off of the weekly email and ask others how they prepare individual veggies. What happens if I can’t pick up my produce on Wednesdays? Please call us if you can’t come by to get your veggies; we will hold them until the following Monday unless you make other arrangements with us. By Monday, we will give them away to a volunteer or community member. What about vacations or weeks when we aren’t in town? If you give us a 1-week advance notice, you can "bump" up to two weeks and we will add the extra weeks to the end of your sign-up, or you can take a double share some week when you need extra produce.\ How do the tote bags work? We rotate the bags each week so that we aren’t using so many of those darned plastic grocery bags. At the end of the season, we will return both the bags to you. I don’t like beets. How do I make sure I don’t get any in my bag?? Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate individual likes and dislikes even though we would like to. We suggest making arrangements with a friend, neighbor, or co-worker to take the beets you despise or the basil that makes you break into hives. Can a payment plan be arranged? Yes, we can usually work something out. Please call us! How can I get more involved in the farm? We love having people come to visit and to volunteer! You should always call a day in advance, because there are some days and times that just aren’t very pretty at the farm, and visitors might get short shrift. There are other days when visitors and volunteers come out regularly and can fit easily into the workload. You can come out and just walk around on your own with (or without) kids; you can volunteer at tasks that are good for both adults and younger people; you can arrange a special talk and tour for a group of people.
